i'm back, baby

Pounding the concrete pavement five days a week isn't good for your knees.
I didn't know that until about two weeks ago, when my right knee started hurting with every little step. My plans to begin training for a half marathon went out the window as I sulked on the couch with an icepack. "First shin splints, and now my knees are going out. I think I'm dying," I said to my dad.
As it turns out, I wasn't dying, and my knee finally seems to be better. I got up early this morning and went to replace my Brooks with a brand new pair. In pink, no less. From there, I headed to the gym to test out my new shoes. Slowly, slowly, I made it to three miles without even a hint of knee pain.
I'm back, baby. Just in time for the first day of my half marathon training plan.

I can say so much in response to this post! I love to run! Unfortunately, a few years ago, while training for a full marathon I was hit with shin splints, knee and hip problems. My knees and hips are ok now, but whenever I start running more than 20-25 miles/week, the shin splints come back. Good for you to lay off once you started experiencing pain. I didn't and I don't know if i'll ever run as much as i would like to. oh, and stretch!

Hope your having a great week!

Oh how exciting! Nice that you were able to get shoes that are pink. Mine are so ugly it makes me sad. I hate that running makes us all have leg problems; why can't we just get to do what we love pain free? What half marathon are you running?
