So, today, I spent hours researching various internships and pre-college courses for high school kids like me. The Ivy League schools all offer outstanding summer courses, but I've set my sights on something different: I want to be a summer intern at a magazine or newspaper in NYC. And, I found the perfect organization for it. It's called Career Explorations, and offers interns not only experience in their preferred field, but also a culturally enriching summer in the heart of the city. I really want to do it, and to convince my parents, I'll need to be very persuasive. Here's my pros and cons list:
Pros
-will look great on resumés/college apps
-only 4 weeks long
-will let me experience city life
-help me develop a sense of responsibility
-will allow me to learn about careers in writing
-will be amazing!
Cons
-expensive (roughly $6000)
-a whole 4 weeks long
-won't be able to do church mission trip
As you can see, the pros definitely outweigh the cons. If you can think of any more tips on how I can sway my parents, then let me know. *Wish me luck!*
